DENIS COUSIN

Biography

Born in 1980 in Bolivia, Denis COUSIN was abandoned at the age of 6 months by his parents in the middle of the Amazon jungle. Miraculously picked up by monkeys, he will fight for his survival for 7 long years in a hostile environment. His encounter with the Korubos tribe will gradually bring him out of his savage torpor until a traveling circus decides to adopt him for his ability to communicate with primates. He quickly falls in love with Washu, a young female chimpanzee aged 11, with whom he wants to start a family.
Unfortunately, his happiness is short-lived. In the grip of serious financial difficulties, the circus decides to separate from Washu because of his massive consumption of bananas and makes the young Denis Cousin, then aged 12, the main attraction of the circus. He becomes "the monkey man" , "el macaco do homem". From the four corners of South America, the population flocks to see with their eyes the phenomenon, the one that everyone now calls "el macaquito"...
Six years later, a new event turns his life upside down: during a world tour which was to start with Europe, the boat on which the entire Bolivian circus team travels, sinks 10,000 nautical miles from the coast. Americans. The only survivor, the one who will never again be called "el macaquito", will swim more than 800 KM to reach the French coast.
Nearly nine years later, after learning the French language, and 3 years of permanent laser hair removal, Denis COUSIN decided to share his love for painting and for the emotions it expresses.
